WHAT'S THIS PROJECT ABOUT?

This is a project about LGTB at school. An Erasmus Plus Ka-229 Project. It means that it is funded by the European Union. Four schools from different countries are involved: Belgium, Germany, Spain and Romania. During two years we will be wotking on this topic and our students will meet on four different occasions. We chose this topic because of its importance.  According to the "Out in the Open" report released by UNESCO in 2016, violence in schools and other educational settings is a global problem, and students who are
perceived not to conform to prevailing sexual and gender norms, are more vulnerable. Besides,
according to UNICEf (2018) 50% of LGTB students has suffered bullying or cyberbullying during Secondary School. Therefore, although the legal and social framework has improved in Europe, wehave still a long way to go.

Moreover, according to the European International Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans and Intersex Associatoion, two of the main problems at school are bullying but also the lack of visibility. So the main objectives of this project is to contribute to normalize this topic, to decrease the number of bullying cases
and schooldrops and encourage respect to create a more safe enviroment in the schools.
Besides, this is a project opened to the whole community (students, teachers, families and local administrations) and part of its success will depend on how many people we can get ingaged in it.The main objective to get is  to normalize and making visible LGTB at school, so no student feels excluded. That's why it is necessary to break down stereotypes and emphasis their contribution on our cultural heritage. Doing that we pretend to get several goals: to prevent LGTB students' schooldrops, to create a safe enviroment, to provide our students with famous models: gays matemathicians, trans filmmakers, lesbian politicians etc. So we all really understand that no sexual orientation or gender identity means any restriction at all.
Finally, we want to work too on the new models of families. Being aware of the new families models can contribute to prevent unnecessary offences or exclusions. For instance, we have in many countries the "Mother Day" which is sometimes prepared with a big dedication. However, there are students who feel excluded. We want to review this kind of situations in order to find alternatives.
However, we want to insist that this project will be very profitabe not only for LGTB students but for
all of us. If we can help to decrease the number of mobbing victims, we are decreasing also the
number of offenders. Moreover, to bring up respectful citizens is one of the main pillars of a
democratic and free society.

     So...LET'S GO!
